Automatic Sector Strength
See how 11 sector ETFs are positioned against SPY in one automatically populated chart. Strength and momentum indices are centered at 100, with recent trails to show how each sector has moved through the chart.
11 sectors and one benchmark
XLK, XLF, XLY, XLP, XLE, XLV, XLI, XLB, XLRE, XLU and XLC are compared with SPY. Coverage depends on the price history available for each ETF.
Automatic daily-price input
The chart retrieves sector ETF and SPY prices automatically. There is no CSV upload or manual price-entry step.
Strength, momentum and trails
The horizontal axis shows normalized relative strength; the vertical axis shows change in that strength. Each trail contains up to 14 daily observations.
Refresh with availability feedback
The visible workspace checks for updates every three minutes. Results are cached for up to 30 minutes, and a failed refresh is identified when previously loaded data remains on screen.
Is Sector Strength automatic?
Yes. Open Sector Rotation → Sector Strength with an active subscription and the chart loads the sector data automatically. You do not need to prepare a spreadsheet, import CSV or enter prices.
What do the two axes measure?
The horizontal index normalizes each ETF's price ratio to SPY against its recent history. The vertical index normalizes the ten-session change in that strength measure. Both are centered at 100; they are indices, not percentage returns.
Is this a real-time price feed?
The calculation uses daily price history. Checking every three minutes and caching results for 30 minutes does not turn it into an intraday or exchange-real-time feed. Published prices, market sessions and source availability determine when observations change.
Does a stronger sector guarantee a positive return?
No. Relative strength compares a sector with SPY; a sector can outperform a falling benchmark while still losing value. Use the chart as historical comparison and context for your own analysis.
